Loving Beethoven
In 2020, the world will celebrate Ludwig van Beethoven’s 250th birthday anniversary. The Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach, in partnership with MIMMA (Interactive Music Museum in Malaga, Spain) is paying tribute to this milestone thanks to the traveling musical installation Loving Beethoven. The interactive music installation will be at the Cultural Center from March 6, 2020 to May 27, 2020 with an opening reception taking place on March 6, 2020.
“ Loving Beethoven ties together the Cultural Center’s mission and the Center’s outreach program Sound Connections® Music Therapy perfectly. We are thrilled to be working with Miguel Angel Piedrola and MIMMA on our first collaborative, international project.”
- Executive Director Donna Guzzo
MIMMA hopes to expand its educational programs, through the Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach, to other schools in Florida as it has done in other educational communities throughout Malaga and Andalucia, Spain. The objective is to reach more students, including including special needs students, that currently benefit from CCPVB’s Sound Connections® Music Therapy Program.
Ludwig van Beethoven (1770 - 1827) is one of the greatest composers of all time, without whose work it would be impossible to understand the last 200 years of music. He is not only the author of fundamental master pieces but represents a milestone in European and world culture.
MIMMA’s design team has created this installation for the Cultural Center using sizable individual spheres that when hugged, allow you to feel Ludwig van Beethoven’s music through vibration. The spheres change color when touched, which creates a unique sensorial and immersive experience. The installation is meant to bring the user closer to the music in a therapeutic way. Thanks to the novelty of the exhibition, it demonstrates the capacity to enjoy music in all of us.  Loving Beethoven is an original music therapy experience, accessible, personal, and unique. The exhibition will also include programs for activities that highlight artists and creators from Malaga, Spain.
Admission tickets are $5 and will be available for purchase online, in advance, over the phone, and at the door. Adult and children group tours are available for reservation. Cultural Center members are free. Children under the age of 5 are free.
Loving Beethoven  is sponsored in part by Robert and Monica Jacoby and Joseph P. Bryant.
