One of the most enjoyable parts of studio pottery is designing new forms. Knowing how to design and use pottery templates can help turn ideas into finished pieces.
In this workshop, Chandra will design handbuilding templates for cups, handles, vases, jars, and plates using a range of low tech and high tech options. We will explore creating shapes with good old scissors and paper and also digital tools like the Procreate app on the IPad. After forming pieces from soft clay slabs, we will embellish with texture and will decorate the surfaces using underglaze techniques.
Chandra will be working with midrange porcelain but the techniques she covers will be applicable to a range of clay bodies and firing temperatures.
