Statement:
Tyler Quintin’s pottery is hand built using slabs and press molded texture. The handles on his pots are hand built using bone-dry extrusions and slip. Where handmade pottery is often an object of comfort, Tyler’s handles often inspire a hesitation to interact. This moment of hesitation and need for repeated interactions to recognize the objects actual strength and comfort becomes a metaphor for developing human relationships.
