Mending as a Practice and Expression

with Tasha Miller Griffith
Virtual Two-Part Demonstration Workshop using the Zoom Platform

January 9 & 16, 2022  | Time: 12:00 -2:00PM ET

Hand-stitched mending can be a gateway to creative expression, as well as a way to care for our textiles, the people we love, and our planet. In this workshop we'll build skills for useful and beautiful stitching, from simple to invisible to decorative. I'll demonstrate hand-sewing techniques including darning, boro-style patchwork, and duplicate stitch for knits. We'll investigate the structure of woven and knitted fabrics, and explore the meaning of stitching and mending in the modern world. We'll learn together over two sessions on Zoom, with time in between for practice and questions.
