Forming And Enameling Copper Screening

Virtual Two-Part Demonstration Workshop using the Zoom Platform

In this two part class, you will learn how to create and enamel three dimensional forms made from copper screening.  Yes, the type used for windows and also other larger and smaller mesh sizes.    
 
Part One: We will be creating volume and form using assorted sizes of copper screening – working with methods such as gathering, pleating, folding, creasing, fold-forming, stitching and “freehand” manipulation to achieve lightweight, volumetric forms suitable for jewelry or objects.  A brief introduction to enameling the screen forms will be included.
 
Part Two: In depth demonstrations on techniques for enameling the screen forms will include dipped and brushed  applications of liquid enamel in combination with and separate from sifted applications of powdered enamel.  Additional information will include – inclusion of gold or silver foil, glass seed beads and a PPT illustrating how to set up an inexpensive spray booth.

  • Participants must have the ZOOM video platform downloaded on a computer or phone to participate
  • Students will receive access to the recorded demonstrations for up to two weeks
  • This demonstration includes office hours with Barbara to answer questions in-between sessions.
