  • Interpretive Signs
     
     
    Interpretive signs allow our visitors the chance to learn about our native habitat at their leisure as they enjoy time on our preserves.  Signage is very expensive but is a needed piece for all of our visitors to truly enjoy their time on our lands.  From tree speicimens to likely habitat for animals and invertebrates, signage makes the message for conservation pop!  Each brass sign costs nearly $100, so your support is so very important!

    Binoculars allow children (and adults) the opportunity to get a closer look at the striping on a certain bird, or other important identification characteristics to assist them in positive species identification.  Visual learning is an important tool in helping us to create the conservationists of tomorrow.

  • Hip Waders For Progams
    To really understand the importance of wetlands and streams you've got to get out into them. Hip waders keep us clean and dry while we study the fish and invertebrates in the streams and rivers of our watershed. We also have to purchase  waders for our students and interns in some programs.

  • Eastern Bluebird Box
    This beautiful bird is a favorite of many people and is eagerly awaited in the spring after a long cold winter. In the past 25 years bluebirds have become uncommon in the east for reasons not altogether clear. Competition for nest sites with European Starlings and House Sparrows is likely a critical factor. The erection of many artificial next boxes in recent years seems to be helping to increase the population.
    Nesting: 4-6 pale blue eggs in a loose cup of grasses 
    Help us keep these lovely birds healthy and happy on our preserves!  Speical handmade boxes are favorites of this bird.
