Cultural heritage and progressive values
inspiring community, learning, and activism
Course Description:Co-created with internationally-acclaimed Yiddish dance teacher, Avia Moore, this mini-series will teach us the basics of Yiddish folk dance. As beautiful as they are fun, these are dances that everyone can enjoy together. They are a living tradition that balance individual expression and community spirit. From the simple freylekh, which means joyful, to the broyges tantz, a traditional wedding dance of “anger and reconciliation” between new mother-in-laws, we’ll learn about the cultural and historical context of these dances and get to experience them in our bodies. Class will culminate in our annual khanike celebration, with a dance party on Dec. 15th. This class is open to anyone interested, no matter your dancing experience or ability.
Dates: Thurs. evenings, Nov. 7 - Dec. 12 (5 sessions) + Saturday Dec. 15 Khanike dance party!
Location: BWC, 6 Webster St. Brookline, MA 02446
Tuition: $120 BWC members ($24/session) // $150 non members ($30/session). Tuition includes free admission to BWC's Khanike Celebration Dec. 15! Cost should never be a barrier to accessing our programs so feel free to pay what you can. Email firstname.lastname@example.org with questions.

are a lot of organizations doing political organizing, but I think
we're working on something different here in terms of talking about it
as a community. It really struck home for me when we had the Shabbat
dinner for gay and lesbian marriage."
