Be a Fan to a Senior today!

While many of us look forward to these hazy, lazy summer days it can be an extremely dangerous time of year for older adults. According to the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) 40 percent of annual heat-related deaths occur in those 65 years of age and older.

In an effort to help Quad City area older adults stay cool this summer, the Center For Active Seniors, Inc. (CASI) is gearing up for its Be A Fan To Seniors - Summer Heat Relief Program.

CASI is now accepting new 20” box-style fans or monetary donations that will be used to purchase new fans for older adults in need of heat relief this summer.  Donations can be dropped off at CASI, 1035 West Kimberly Road, Davenport, IA 52806 during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Area seniors in need of heat relief should contact CASI at 563.386.7477. Fans are distributed to individuals over the age of 50 with photo I.D.  Due to high demand for this program, only one fan per household.

Generous community and corporate donations allow CASI to give out more than 150 new box-style fans to area seniors each year.

To learn more about this program or to donate, call CASI at 563-386-7477.
