Why Join the CoC?

Become a member of our Region VI Continuum of Care!  The membership year runs from June 1-May 31.  Members receive voting rights in quarterly meetings and become eligible to utilize HMIS and apply for federal funding through HUD.  Quarterly meetings are open to the public and are held on the fourth Thursday at 2:00pm on the following months:  January, April, July, and October.

We encourage our members to join committees that correspond with their interests.  If you are able to commit to a few more meetings, please consider joining a committee that relates to your interests and skillset.

  • Family and Youth Committee - Assist with discussion and plans to end homelessness amoung unaccompanied youth and families with children.
    • Ideal participation would be members with a close association to youth and children, such as affiliation with schools, religious organizations, and social work.
  • Housing Committee - Assist with discussion and plans to identify, recruit, and build affordable housing in Central Louisiana to help end and prevent homelessness.
    • Ideal participation would be members who are affiliated with real estate or residential construction, such as landlords, realtors, and tiny home builders.
  • Outreach Committee - Assist with discussion and plans to find and identify those who are literally homeless and connect them to community resources.
    • Ideal participation would be members who are in direct contact with the homeless, such as emergency room staff, law enforcement officials, and soup kitchen volunteers.
  • Policy Committee - Provides ideas and drafts plans and governance to be used by the CoC.
    • Ideal participation would be members with experience in composing professional documents and making major decisions.
  • Veterans Committee - Assist with discussion and plans to end homelessness among US veterans.
    • Ideal participation would be members with a passion for housing our nation's veterans, such as VA staff, veteran service organizations, and current service members.
