In the 270 years of The Charleston Library Society, few chapters are as critical as the one you will help us write today.
Years of deferred maintenance threaten our building. Its hallmark arched windows are rusted beyond repair. The roof has reached the end of its lifespan. The internal gutter system - a notable architectural feature when constructed 100 years ago - has left a legacy of water damage.
Hurricane Matthew exposed these deficiencies and more in dramatic fashion, damaging the Main Reading Room and sending a deluge of water across the iconic checkerboard floor.
With your help, we can write our Next Chapter and safeguard the Charleston Library Society's home for the next 270 years!
