Greenwich Get Walking is part of Walking for Health, which is England's largest network of health walk schemes that supports people to lead healthier lifestyles.
What is a health walk?
Health walks are free, short walks over easy terrain that are designed for people who are inactive or suffering from a long term health condition, and the walks act as a way to increase fitness levels, or to keep active when fitness levels decline due to age or illness, but ultimately the walks are open to all!
About the training
The Volunteer Walk Leader course is a one day course for anyone for willing and able to lead walks in the community. It is a day of practical advice and includes practice in leading a walk and information on keeping people motivated.
What you will need for the training day :
- suitable clothing and footwear as you will be taking part in a short demonstration health walk.
What is expected of you after the training?
Walk leaders recieve training so that they can go on to lead walks with their local Walking for Health scheme.
