You are applying to be a one-to-one tutor. Are you willing to work in the following special circumstances?

Time Commitment

Volunteer Tutors are asked to commit to at least six months of tutoring twice a week. Tutors and students can communicate directly with one another to re-schedule meetings when one of them has an emergency, an appointment, or a planned vacation of up to 3 weeks. If you know of any other circumstances that would prevent you from tutoring for a major block of time in the next six to twelve months, please describe the circumstances below (no character limit).

Please select ONE training from EITHER the Adult Basic Education (ABE) or English as a Second Language (ESL) list. The dates and times of the trainings are listed below each drop-down selection list. All trainings are held at Delaware County Literacy Council (DCLC), 2217 Providence Ave., Chester PA 19013.

Here are the specific dates and times of the upcoming Adult Basic Education (ABE) trainings for new volunteers. Volunteers must attend all sessions of a given training.

 

April 2017 ABE Tutor Training

Saturdays, April 22 and 29, 2017, 9:00 am to 2:30 pm
with a follow-up session Wednesday, May 24, 2017, 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm

 

September 2017 ABE Tutor Training

Saturdays, September 16 and 23, 2017, 9:00 am–2:30 pm
with a follow-up session Wednesday, October 18, 2017, 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm

 

November 2017 ABE Tutor Training

Tuesdays/Thursdays, November 7, 9, 14, and 16, 2017, 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm

Media Consent Agreement

 I hereby give Delaware County Literacy Council permission to use photographs, moving images, and sound recordings of me, as well as written materials about me, in reports and publications describing or promoting the activities of Delaware County Literacy Council. These publications may include, but are not limited to, informational brochures, web sites, videos, and other digital and audio media. Note: DCLC raises awareness about adult literacy and promotes its free literacy programs through print and multimedia publicity. Sharing photographs and individual stories is a powerful way to spread our message.
