Dear Friend of Hallwalls,


With Hallwalls' 44th season of programming underway, we are writing today to ask that you consider a donation—in any amount—in support of our year-end campaign. When Hallwalls was founded in 1974, it was pluralistic in approach and wide-reaching in the artists invited to be part of its program. Two generations later, that core mission has not changed—we remain multi-disciplinary with strong support for the artists within and outside our region.


This varied programmatic philosophy is borne out by the cumulative weight of a single year's programming across all media. In 2017, Hallwalls presented well over 100 events—that's an average of an event every four days. Our calendar of activities rarely lies fallow and while there are paid events in the mix, just as many events—scholarly lectures, artists' talks, Science & Art Cabarets, community events—are free to our audience. Through 2017, this wide-range of events included:


 20 live music concerts
• 50 media arts presentations/screenings
• 7 literary readings
• 10 scholarly lectures
• 6 exhibition openings with artists' talks
• 4 Science & Art Cabaret events
• 8 artist lectures
• 6 community events


This plentiful listing is not unusual by any means. It represents an average year of programming. You can safely expect this to continue as we move through 2018 and beyond.


Support for all our programming is provided by major donors, corporations, and foundations, as well as from our two popular Live Drawing Rally events and our AHA! Annual Auction. But our Annual End of Year Campaign is an equally key component in supporting our programming. And when we say no amount is too small, that's a fact—as we have seen in recent years in grass roots organizing, many small amounts can make a significant difference. In last year's campaign, the largest supporter amount was $1,000, but even $10 can be an important contribution. Or choose to give a small monthly amount with your credit card.
