The IFMA Foundation Annual Fund supports the work of the Global Workforce Initiative - making FM a Career of Choice.
The IFMA Foundation encourages FM as a Career of Choice. Through our Global Workforce Initiative, we are implementing new and exciting ways to encourage students to consider a career path in Facility Management.
FM is facing a severe lack of trained professionals entering the workforce. Over the next five to 15 years, 50 percent of the existing FM workforce will retire. Today, the IFMA Foundation has accredited degrees in FM around the world with more than 2,000 FM students enrolled in these programs. However the annual demand for a single typical global firm is greater than this number.
To help fill this growing workforce gap, the Foundation’s Global Workforce Initiative connects education, training, support services and credentials for FM in a manner that optimizes the progress and success of individuals with varying levels of abilities and needs. Individuals earn more marketable credentials, engage in higher levels of education and employment and achieve greater economic success. The initiative engages national, regional and local business employers to help meet their needs and strengthen their workforces and local economies. FM educational programs address high school, community college and higher education institutions.
