The proposed KLT Surry Hill Community Forest includes over 250 acres of secondary forest growth, a 20-acre open field and two wetlands. The property drains east toward Lovejoy Pond, west into the Hales Pond watershed, and north toward Echo Lake. If conserved, the property will be permanently protected and managed for forest regeneration, wildlife habitat, water quality protection, nature observation, and low-impact outdoor recreational activities, such as hiking, mountain-biking, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, and hunting.
Our campaign goal is $296,902. All funds raised will be dedicated to the purchase of the land, trail development, and the long term care of this valuable community conservation property, and 3% for campaign administrative costs. Any donations received in excess of this campaign's goal will be dedicated to KLT's lands and stewardship accounts.
