DID YOU KNOW that South Carolina ranks FIRST in the nation for the number of women murdered by men, annually, more than TWICE the national average; 95% of those are domestic violence related homicides? For victims of domestic violence, My Sister's House, Inc. provides the tools and resources needed to ensure a successful transition to a life free of abuse. We are proud to say that 84% of every $1 donated to our organization goes directly to our programs and services.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR GIFT OF EMPOWERMENT!
MSH provides basic necessities and other support to residents during their stay at the shelter.
$35 Career Clothing
Many of the women that stay in our shelter come with just the clothes on their back. Your donation can help enhance employment opportunities by enabling them to buy uniforms for new jobs or professional clothing for interviews.
$50 Medical Prescriptions
MSH helps our residents pay for medical prescriptions. From blood pressure medicine and asthma pumps to various antibiotics, we make sure that our residents’ health needs are met free of charge.
$2,100 Week of Empowerment
An average stay for residents is 45 days. Your gift can sponsor a family of 4 (one woman and 3 children) for a week, which will provide a place to sleep, clothing and food, and valuable services such as court advocacy and therapy.
Children are innocent victims to the cycle of domestic abuse. MSH is committed to making their lives as “normal” as possible while they stay at our shelter. The children are provided therapy, educational and recreational activities.
After School Program $75
MSH provides a community-based after school program that includes homework, arts and crafts activities and tutoring. Your gift can help give the children at our shelter a week of interactive learning while giving them a sense of structure that is necessary for success.
Keep a Child in School $100
MSH Children’s Program strives to minimize the educational disruption experienced by the children who come to our shelter. Your gift can buy school uniforms, various school supplies and help with school activity fees.
In order for MSH to fulfill our mission, we need to successfully meet our residents’ transportation needs.
$20 Week of Bus Coupons or Cab Ride
For those residents that come to us without a car, taking the bus or a cab is their only transportation to work, medical appointments, etc. Your gift can supply residents with bus tickets or cab fare.
$40 Gas Card
Your gift can help ensure that while staying at our shelter, residents with their own cars are able to put gas in their tanks.
$400 MSH Program’s Transportation
Our vans are used for grocery shopping; transporting clients to court; picking up donations; taking children to school and the list goes on… Your gift can help monthly maintenance and fuel costs for our two vans.
At MSH, we focus on providing skills and tools to end the cycle of abuse. Being financially independent is often the key to victims not returning to their abuser. MSH’s transitional housing program supports our residents as they transition from our shelter program to living independently.
Water Deposit $50
MSH helps to establish women and their children back in the community by assisting with housing expenses. Your gift can help with the deposit for water for a house or apartment.
Electrical Deposit $150
A larger gift can help fund an electrical deposit for a family transitioning back into the community.
First Month’s Rent $500
Helping with the first month’s rent can greatly assist women in their efforts towards success in a violence-free life. Your gift can be a part of their SOLUTION!
