featuring Scott D. Miller, Ph.D.
Thursday, May 20, 2021 • 9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. (CST) • 3 CEUs
Our goal is to help our clients get better. To improve our efforts, we often depend upon the impact of time and experience in the field or specialization in a specific treatment area. Yet, available evidence suggests these do little to enhance effectiveness. The key to improved performance is engaging in deliberate practice, a systematic approach for improving client outcomes. At this workshop, Scott Miller, Ph.D. shares the latest research on deliberate practice and the concrete steps – determining your baseline performance, identifying and addressing your strengths and deficits as a practitioner, and assessing your progress – that you can apply immediately in your efforts to achieve better results.
• Demonstrate learning of the evidence-base supporting the use of deliberate practice to improve therapeutic effectiveness.
• Discuss a valid and reliable method for assessing baseline level of effectiveness.
• Discuss a valid and reliable method for identifying performance improvement opportunities unique to each individual practitioner’s clinical practice.
