It is of no surprise to anyone that schools are oftentimes a student’s safe place. A place where they can be nourished through nutrition, education and emotional support. COVID-19 has impacted those most vulnerable in our community. Our schools are closed and these students and their families who rely on additional supports are in great need. Employees within our schools have identified, through personal interaction, the specific families who require food, educational materials, physical activity and hygiene items.
In response to this need, the Saskatoon Public Schools Foundation (SPSF) has launched a campaign to provide families with Cheer Crates in the months of May and June. On May 12th, the SPSF successfully delivered Cheer Crates to 500 families with ample support from Saskatoon Public Schools staff and community members. The next round of crates will go out in June, and we look forward to spreading a bit more cheer!
Cheer Crates will be approximately $100 in value. Items will be donated or purchased and will include a combination of nutritious food, family activities, books, and hygiene items. Our desire is to provide families with a package that is uplifting and refreshing.
