The one thing Covid has taught us is that we have to be able to adapt. When we closed due to the pandemic, we totally changed our day-to-day operation to support our community. We offered drive-thru meals, advocated for all area Seniors, brought our programs into your homes via Zoom, cable television, and telephone. When vaccines became available, we scheduled them and hosted two vaccine clinics per week. All while we packed and distributed over 100,000 meals!
Now as we consider how to reopen, we need your help. The Center of Disease Control is advocating for a combination of filtered and fresh air as a safety measure to prevent disease. Our windows and HVAC systems are 30 years old and cannot operate in a way that meets the CDC's recommendations. You can help by making a donation.
The cost to replace each window is $1,000. We have 24 windows that need to open and have screens. Can you donate a window? half of one for $500?, or a quarter of one for $250? We will memorialaze your gift or honor your loved ones with a brass plate on the window sill.
Our HVAC system cannot accommodate the hepa filters required to eliminate particles and germs from the air, nor do they provide the fresh air exchange the CDC recommends. Can you help bring fresh air into the Center?
Finally, the kitchen needs a facelift to accomodate some of the new equipment we acquired during the pandemic. For a year, we have been feeding 5x the number of people who ate meals at the center in 2019. We hope that many of them continue with our meals in-person when we open. Can you help by donating to the kitchen facelift?
