Thank you for your interest in rehoming a pet from Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home. We base our matching decisions on what we think the dogs and cats in our care need from an owner and home environment in order to give both them and you the best chance of success. Please be honest in your answers on this form.
The data you provided will be used to help us find a suitable pet for you. We will use your phone number and/or email address (if you have provided email consent) to contact you about potentially suitable pets, if we think we have a match for you. We may need to ask for and collect sensitive data about you such as details of medical or health conditions, during the rehoming application process. We may need to check your details with other organisations. We may use your data to help us analyse and better understand our supporter and customer base, tailor our communications with you, and keep you informed about our dogs and cats, events, campaigns and services that we think you might be interested in, unless you have told us not to. We sometimes use information from public sources. If you’ve provided a postal address or phone number, we may contact you in this way with campaigns or appeals we believe you’ll be interested in, unless you've told us not to. With all of your contact methods, you have the right to opt out of receiving these communications at any time, in any way. If you would prefer we did not contact you by post or phone, or would like to change your contact preferences, you can do this simply and easily by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling us on 0131 669 5331. To find out more about how we use your personal data, please read our privacy statement by visiting https://edch.org.uk/privacy/
If you own pets, please provide details of species, breed, sex, age, and length of ownership below below:
We do not rehome to anyone under the age of 18. You must provide proof of age if invited on site to apply for one of our dogs or cats.
We do not rehome to anyone who cannot provide proof of ability to have a pet in their property. You will be asked to provide proof of mortgage, or a landlord/council letter stating type and number of pet(s) allowed in your property.
Each form is used for the pet(s) you have named, you will need to fill in a new form if you see another pet you are interested on our website or app. We will review the information you provided and will get back to you via email or phone to let you know if we have not been able to successfully match you at this time, if we have been able to potentially match you to the named dog or cat and what the next steps will be in the application process, or to let you know if we have reached our interest quota in that particular animal and are no longer accepting interest or applications.
Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home will use the information you provided, and our knowledge and assessments of the animals in our care, to match potential owners with dogs or cats we think would suit their experience and current situation. All our decisions are made for the benefit of the dogs and cats in our care, please resect the experience, knowledge, and understanding of our staff. All our decisions are final.
We advise that all dogs who are rehomed are provided with the necessary training and support for their behaviour to ensure a successful rehoming and a happy family life. This will be made clear by the staff for all dogs, particularly for the dogs who require more support than others. You may be asked to sign a separate agreement relating to the dogs specific training needs. The Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home will guide you through the rehoming process with added support for every specific dog need.
Please be aware that the history of a dog is often not known, and this cannot be accounted for when a dog is settling into its new home.
