Third Street Alliance provides shelter for homeless women and children as well as quality early childhood education. The classrooms are available to our shelter families, paid for in part through the Elizabeth Mulrine Scholarship Fund.
Childcare scholarships are especially important to women living in the shelter who don’t qualify or are on the waiting list, for child care subsidies. Without childcare, these women will be unable to work. So, scholarships are one of the major tools in Third Street Alliance’s arsenal providing the transformation support that allows families to break the cycle of homelessness -- through workforce participation and quality early childhood education.
Already in the first three months of 2019 Third Street Alliance has awarded over $4,000 in scholarships to shelter families, which has also depleted the fund. Our goal is to raise $12,000 to help cover scholarships for additional families, both residents, and non-residents, for the remaining of 2019.
