Rules and Conditions

  1. Student must provide his/her own accompanist at the audition and must perform with accompaniment.
  2. If a student is selected to perform, the student must be available for any of the concert cycles to which the student is assigned.
  3. Students must play one movement of a concerto, a complete solo work or sing two arias with accompaniment in the competition. In the competition, the student may be limited to 10 minutes – cuts may be taken in the accompaniment.
  4. In cases where additional costs are incurred for music rentals, the student may be responsible for some or all of those costs.
  5. Concerti must be performed for memory. Woodwinds, brass, and percussion are exempt from this rule, but memorization is still encouraged.
  6. The judge’s decisions are final.
  7. Since forms can be submitted electronically, the competition committee trusts that all students have confirmed with their private teacher that they are ready to enter the competition.
  8. Auditions are free for the piano and string Appassionata students. All other disciplines pay $50.00 to audition.
