Destroying the preconceived notions of what a person who is blind is capable of achieving, Team Sea To See takes on Race Across America (RAAM), known as "the toughest bike race in the world". Race Across America is one of the most respected and longest running ultra-endurance events. RAAM is seen as a pinnacle of athletic achievement not only in cycling circles but the greater sporting community as well. Racing 3,100 miles nonstop from the pier in Oceanside, California to Annapolis, Maryland, there is no other race in the world like RAAM. There is no race that combines the distance, terrain and weather; no other event that tests a team’s spirit from beginning to end.
Made up of four blind cyclists, four sighted pilots, and twenty dedicated crew members, the team exemplifies what is possible when you combine teamwork and perseverance. Each of the blind cyclists -- Jack, Kyle, Tina, and Dan -- embodies success on and off the bike, living lives out of the saddle as a corporate attorney, professional para-triathlete, federal prosecutor, and CEO. The team took on RAAM with the mission of addressing the abysmal 70% unemployment rate for individuals who are blind. Highlighting the value of teamwork, technology, and perseverance as the keys to personal and professional success, the team’s goal is to reduce the unconscious bias held by many employers of the capability and contributions of individuals with disabilities.
Team Sea to See is creating an exhilarating full length documentary film that captures the lives and events leading up to and through the history-making completion of the 2018 Race Across America. To make our mission a reality, we need your support.
