Residency Guidelines

Application Deadlines: Applications are accepted year-round; however you are strongly encouraged to submit your application eight months prior to your desired residency date.

 

After submitting the application fee please email the following information to our Executive Director Jerod Santek at jerod@writeondoorcounty.org. Your application will not be considered until fully completed.

 

For Writers:

  • A brief biographical statement of no more than one page.
  • A description of at least one paragraph but no more than one page of the community service project you would like to offer while in residency, including the targeted audience for the program.
  • A work plan of no more than one page, detailing your current writing project and what you hope to accomplish during your residency.
  • A work sample of at least 10 pages but no more than 25 (picture book writers should submit at least 2 pages but no more than 8). If you work in multiple genres, your work sample may include samples from more than one genre.
  • Two letters of reference from people familiar with your creative work and the impact of a residency on your writing.

 

For Literary Arts Administrators:

  • A current resume or CV.
  • A brief biological statement of no more than one page.
  • A description of at least one paragraph of a service project you would offer during your residency.
  • A description of at least one paragraph but no more than one page of how you would use your residency to benefit your current administrative work.
  • A brochure, catalog, or other printed information about your literary arts organization.
  • Two letters of reference, at least one of which must be from your organization's executive director or board chair and one from a member of your arts community addressing the impact of your work on the community.
